Blood Culture Test is done by taking the blood sample from the vein in both the arms. This technique of taking double samples gives more accurate results. The sample is put in a sterile tube and transported to the lab. In the lab the sample is put in a bottle which contains chemicals that promote the growth of backeria or yeast. If any growth of bacteria is seen in 24 to 48 hours then the culture is reported as positive. If there is no growth even after 72 hours then the culture test is reported as negative.

What is Blood Culture Test ?
